Background
Renwick, located in the heart of Marlborough’s renowned wine-growing region, is known for its sun-drenched landscapes and sweeping vineyard views. The homeowners were looking to create a premium outdoor space that would take full advantage of their north-facing section and the stunning rural backdrop.
They chose a 12.5m Bermuda pool for its sleek design, generous swimming length, insulation qualities, and reputation for durability. Pools Spas and Essentials, the Nelson agent for Bermuda Pools, led the project with support from Clark’s Drainage & Developments to ensure the site was expertly prepared.
The Project
The project began with detailed planning to integrate the pool seamlessly into the property’s layout. The north-facing site provided an ideal location, maximising sunshine throughout the day and creating a warm, inviting pool environment.
Clark’s Drainage & Developments assisted with excavation, ground preparation, and drainage work—critical steps given the undulating terrain common in vineyard country. Adding to the complexity was the narrow and winding driveway. To get the pool up to the final position near the house, we needed to employ the use of a Franna crane. The compact design and advanced steering systems of the Franna crane allow them to maneuver in confined spaces where other cranes cannot operate.
Once the site was ready, the 12.5m Bermuda pool was craned into position and installed to align beautifully with the property’s outdoor entertaining area.
Outcome
The finished pool is a standout feature of the home. Its clean lines and reflective surface complement the surrounding vineyards, framing sweeping views across the wine-growing landscape. With plenty of room for both swimming and relaxation, the new pool enhances the property’s lifestyle appeal and creates a private resort-like atmosphere.
