Helicopter Pool Installation for Hard to Access Location

Airlifting a Bermuda Executive 6m pool on Banks Peninsula

Case study: Overcoming access challenges with aerial delivery

After the helicopter pool Installation

The Problem

Our client’s property sits high on Banks Peninsula overlooking Lyttelton Harbour. The location offers spectacular views but presented a significant challenge: no viable road access for standard pool delivery trucks.

Traditional delivery methods were out of the question. The terrain was too steep, the roads too narrow, and the final approach to the installation site simply couldn’t accommodate heavy vehicles.

The Solution – Helicopter Pool Installation!

We used helicopter airlift to deliver and position a Bermuda Executive 6m pool directly to the installation site.

Project Details

  • Location: Banks Peninsula, Canterbury
  • Pool: Bermuda Executive 6m
  • Delivery method: Heavy-lift helicopter
  • Primary challenge: Inaccessible location requiring alternative delivery

Site Preparation

Before the helicopter pool Installation delivery, a retaining wall was installed to create a stable platform for the pool. The wall was engineered to handle the pool’s weight when filled and provide the precise positioning required for helicopter placement.

Timing and weather conditions were critical factors in scheduling the airlift operation.

The Installation Process

Pre-flight Planning

  • Coordinated with helicopter operators specialising in heavy lifts
  • Mapped flight paths around Banks Peninsula
  • Established safety protocols for crew and property
  • Confirmed optimal weather window for the helicopter pool installation

Execution

The helicopter lifted the pool from our staging area and transported it directly to the installation site. The pool was lowered into position on the prepared retaining wall with precision positioning required for proper placement.

Total flight time: approximately 10 minutes. Installation positioning: complete in under 30 minutes.

Why the Helicopter Pool Installation Method Worked

The Bermuda Executive 6m was well-suited for helicopter transport:

  • Durable construction handled airlift stresses
  • Size and weight of the pool was within helicopter lifting capacity
  • Minimal assembly required after positioning
  • Quality construction appropriate for the premium location

Results

The client now has a fully functional pool with unobstructed harbour views. The helicopter delivery method eliminated what would have been an impossible conventional installation.

Applications

This approach works for properties with:

  • Limited or no vehicle access
  • Steep terrain
  • Remote locations
  • Restricted delivery windows
  • High-value locations where access modification isn’t feasible

Project Takeaways

This helicopter delivery solved an access problem that conventional methods couldn’t address. While not standard practice, aerial installation opens possibilities for challenging sites where traditional delivery fails.

The success required coordination between pool installation expertise and specialised heavy-lift aviation, demonstrating that complex access challenges can have practical solutions.
